Personalization in marketing? Spotify’s got it figured out

Hey, it’s Arvin! I wanted to share something interesting with you.

Have you ever opened Spotify and thought, “Whoa, how does it know exactly what I want to hear?”

I clicked on my “Discover Weekly” playlist the other day, and every song was a hit. Songs I didn’t even know I liked! But there I was, listening to them over and over again.

It was kind of weird… but also really cool.

And it made me realize something. This is what businesses are trying to do when they sell things online.

They want you to feel like they get you.

That’s called personalization. And when it works, it’s awesome.

In fact, personalization in marketing is what makes all of this possible.

Like when I see an ad for something random, I just scroll past it. Fast.

But when I see an ad for something I’ve actually been thinking about? I stop. I check it out. That’s personalization in marketing at work.

Personalization in marketing isn’t about shouting louder than everyone else.

It’s about saying the right thing, at the right time, to the right person.

And when brands do that, people notice. And people buy.

Amazon is really good at this.

You buy a spatula, and next thing you know they’re saying, “Hey, chef! Want a knife set? An apron? Maybe a fancy cooking gadget?”

That’s personalization in marketing done right.

And guess what—personalized emails can get SIX times more people to buy stuff.

Plus, 73% of people say they like buying from brands that make things feel personal.

Because we all want to feel seen and understood. (But not in a creepy “we’re watching you” way.)

The best brands make it feel like a friend giving you a helpful suggestion.

“Hey, I think you’ll like this!”

And when you trust them, you listen. And sometimes, you buy.

So, what’s something you bought because a brand made a super good suggestion?

For me, Spotify recommended a band I’d never heard of. And now I listen to their music all the time!

Hit reply and tell me your story! I know I’m not the only one out here getting caught by good recommendations.

And hey, if you want to personalize your marketing, you need a plan. You can’t just make it up as you go on launch day.

That’s why I made a content calendar and tracker system. It helps me stay clear on what I’m saying, who I’m saying it to, and when.

Because making things personal sounds fun… until you have a million ideas and no clue where to start.

This system helps me stay organized and keeps my personalization in marketing feeling fresh and real.

No pressure. Just sharing what works for me!

Also, I’m working on a bunch of new stuff behind the scenes.

Hope you have an awesome day!
