Building Brand Trust? Be More Like Uncle and His Legendary Fried Rice

Hey there,

It’s Arvin!

Just dropping in with one of my random stories that somehow always ends up being about marketing.

You know how it goes. 😄

The other night, I was scrolling through old college photos (way too late at night). 🕑

And I found this pic of me at our go-to canteen on campus.

You probably had a spot like that—nothing fancy, but always hit the spot.

The guy running the place?

We all called him Uncle.

He always remembered me.

Didn’t matter if I was alone or with friends.

Even when I skipped class and showed up looking shady (don’t tell my mom), he knew exactly what I wanted.

I never had to say a word.

And the food?

Always tasted the same.

Always awesome.

No “oh, we’re out of that” surprises.

It was reliable.

Solid.

Even now—five years after graduating—if I’m anywhere near campus, I make a point to stop by.

Because I trust him.

I know what I’m getting, every time.

And it hit me…

That’s what brand trust is. 💡 And more importantly, that’s how you start building brand trust.

Uncle wasn’t thinking about “customer retention” or “building equity.”

He just showed up, did his thing, and stayed consistent. That’s the foundation of building brand trust—consistency.

So why do brands make it so complicated?

One day they sound super formal, and the next they’re cracking jokes like they’re at open mic night.

Like… pick a lane.

If you want people to trust your brand, focus on building brand trust the simple way:

  • Know your people
  • Give them what they want
  • Keep it consistent

Building brand trust doesn’t come from a one-off campaign.

It’s built through the boring stuff you do every day.

Showing up.

Saying the same thing no matter where people find you—social, email, website, whatever.

If your message flips depending on the platform, people notice.

And when they notice, they pull back.

No trust = no repeat visits.

But when you’re consistent?

That’s where trust lives. 🏡

And when people trust you, they keep coming back.

Whether it’s for your product, your content, or Uncle’s legendary fried rice. 🍚

Anyway, that’s what I’ve been thinking about.

What’s a place (or brand) you keep going back to because you trust them that much?

Hit reply and tell me—I love hearing this stuff!

Oh—and if you’re thinking, “Okay Arvin, consistency sounds cool, but how do I actually pull that off without losing my mind?”

Here’s my answer: systems. ⚙️

Instead of waking up every day thinking, “What do I post today?” you plan ahead.

Make life easier on yourself.

I’ve built some simple systems to help with building brand trust without the stress.

If you want to check them out, head over to my store.

Might be just what you need.

And hey—just so you know—I’m cooking up some new stuff in the background right now.

If there’s a system you wish existed, reply to this email and tell me.

I might just build it for you. 😉
